WHO WE ARE

Iqra Academy is a part of the nonprofit, taxexempt Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake, a 501(c)(3) organization. Fall 2006 will mark the beginning of our fourth year of accreditation awarded by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. The school is funded by students’ tuition and fees, and by contributions from the community. Our student body is a diverse group from 23 countries representing five continents.

MISSION STATEMENT

  • To provide students with excellent academic and Islamic education and a firm foundation of moral and ethical values.
  • To develop in every student a positive American-Muslim identity.
  • To prepare today's students to become tomorrow's leaders.

VISION

Iqra Academy is a place for learning Islamic and secular studies and obtaining leadership training. We strive to nurture and encourage our youth to develop their innate creativity and inquisitive nature, in the pursuit of academic excellence, while anchoring their hearts and souls in the moral framework of a God-centered life.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Iqra Academy is guided by the Holy Qur’an and is shaped around the biography of Prophet Muhammad (saw). We strive to orient the minds and hearts of our students according to these Islamic traditions. Simultaneously, we utilize the best of the contemporary educational methods in providing a firm foundation in our children’s education.

CURRICULUM

Our academic curriculum complies with the Utah State and Jordan School District Curriculum in all areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health Science, Technology and Physical Fitness. Our Islamic Studies curriculum includes Qur’an, Arabic Language, Akhlaq, Sirah, Fiqh, and Islamic History .

STAFF

Iqra Academy's qualified, experienced, and diverse faculty is selected based on their academic expertise, enthusiasm, and ability to work with young people. Our teachers have the love, care, and ability to help each child gain the self-esteem and confidence needed to grow socially, emotion-ally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.

 

 

 

Academic Achievment

Our students have taken the Utah State Office of Education Criterion-Referenced Tests through Spring 2005; they have excelled in all areas tested:

  • Math
  • Science and
  • Language Arts

We are now starting to use the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, in order to have valid comparisons to other students nationwide.
